Businesses in Bristol will be finding out this week how they can participate in Bristol’s year as the European Green Capital and by doing so benefit from the activities and support initiatives that will be running throughout 2015.

At a launch event tomorrow (Tuesday 10th February) at the At-Bristol Science Centre, Harbourside, businesses will learn all about the events programme for the year as well as be advised on how they can ‘improve and showcase’ their own green credentials.

          Go Green Logo

The Go Green initiative has been developed by Low Carbon South West and regional business organisation Business West. The aim of the programme is to recognise and celebrate the contribution made by Bristol’s business community in creating a sustainable city region both urban areas and the entire West of England.
In addition, businesses will learn how to access the Go Green branding for their own green initiatives and also and how to network with other green businesses in the area.

The event is fully subscribed with over 350 people registered. Lord Mayor of Bristol Councillor Alistair Watson will open proceedings with other speakers including Professor Steve West, vice-chancellor UWE and chair of the West of England Initiative, Andrew Garrad, chief executive of Bristol 2015 Ltd, Liz Zeidler, chair of Bristol Green Capital Partnership, Amy Robinson, network director of Low Carbon South West and Nina Skubala, initiative manager, Business West.

A practical session will be led by directors of Net Positive Futures, Jimmy Brannigan and Sheri-Leigh Miles, together with Go Green project manager Jessica Ferrow.
