Mental health charity Mind has teamed up with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to publish new guidelines for office space wellbeing.

The organisations have clubbed together to offer their support to small and medium-sized enterprises struggling to manage staff suffering from anxiety, depression and stress.

Mind hopes the guidance will make Britain’s office spaces happier and more supportive places to work.

Meanwhile the FSB claims that tackling office space mental health issues could save the UK economy £26 billion each year.
The guidelines cover ideas such as flexible working, individual employee mentoring and the promotion of a supportive office space environment.

Sophie Corlett, director of external relations at Mind, said all employees experience stress in the workplace at some point during their lives and the key for small business owners is to address the issue swiftly.

“The fact is, taking small steps to support staff at an early stage can result in significant cost savings for small businesses,” she added.

Recently, The Work Foundation claimed that serviced office space stress was on the increase.
