Mobile working is leading to the evolution of a paperless office as more and more workers need access to their documents from a number of different places on a regular basis.
Office staff are using more technology including programmes such as Google Docs to access their reports and scripts instead of printing off huge reams of paper.
This allows businesses to save money on printing costs and even costly printers themselves as well as reducing their impact on the environment.
Tidier offices with less paper lying around provide an environment more conducive to efficient work as piles and piles of paper sitting on a desk can lead to higher stress levels.
Richard Taylor, UK partner for the Birchman Group, said: “There’s no benefit and need to get on a plane with a suitcase full of paper. When I get there, I can cross reference documentation, put it up on a screen, put it on an iPhone – that works much more effectively.”
