Business Environment, the leading serviced office company have stepped up their plans to become a carbon neutral business, with the introduction of a zero landfill policy across the business.
In partnership with their waste management company SWR all waste that historically went to landfill will now be diverted to Grundons’ new green energy plant (Grundon are the largest privately owned waste management company in the UK).
Their Lakeside Energy from Waste (EfW) plant at Colnbrook, is now fully operational. The plant is capable of recovering energy from over 410,000 tonnes of residual waste per year from local authorities and businesses. Lakeside EfW generate 37 MW of electricity. A small amount is used to power the plant itself while the vast majority is exported to the National Grid – enough to meet the domestic needs of c.50,000 homes, more than the population of Slough.
