Green office initiatives can help boost employee morale, according to one expert.
Mrs Green, the founder of Littlegreenblog.com said that it is easy to make small eco-friendly changes which can make a big difference to a company both in terms of its carbon footprint and staff attitudes.
“There are so many simple and easy steps that often get overlooked. Taking baby steps, where employees can feel like a practical part of the solution, is a great way to boost staff morale,” she added.
Mrs Green’s top tips for going green in the office included checking lights and computers are turned off at the end of the day and having recycling bins.
More ambitious companies could perhaps try initiatives such as ‘zero waste lunch’ days and setting up a kitchen garden where people can turn their leftovers into compost.
Staff should also be encouraged to walk or cycle to work, or share lifts if they live further afield.
“By setting up schemes like this, being green is fun rather than another chore,” Mrs Green concluded.
