Businesses wanting to attract the best workers to their office spaces should consider introducing an employee benefits scheme.
According to XpertHR, employee benefits are a cost effective way of boosting morale for existing office space staff.
Sheila Attwood, editor of pay and benefits at XpertHR, said: “A lot of employers are looking at other ways to reward staff that have remained with them through the recession.”
She added: “It also serves as a useful recruitment tool, as employers in the private sector are talking about recruitment again for the first time in a few years.”
He comments come after research from XpertHR showed that the average pay award offered to office space staff in the three months to the end of February 2011 was 2.3 per cent.
While this is an entire percentage point higher than it was a year ago, it remains significantly below the rate of inflation and amounts to a real-term pay cut.
