Insurance companies which offer staff a work-from-home option are increasingly demanding more and more virtual office solutions, according to Information Week.
It is no longer enough for staff to be available when they are at home during working hours, but now they are needed for all sorts of duties at other times, requiring systems which are available anywhere and anytime.
Agents now expect to be able to access their work systems on the go. It is not unusual for them to need immediate access at home, on the train, or even on the golf course!
SME Web reported this week that virtual offices offer more flexibility for workers, which can be beneficial to companies.
Meanwhile, the Fatherhood Institute commented recently that flexible working which allowed people, in particular parents, to work around their personal commitments, helped companies retain staff, as employees prefer to work for a firm which makes concessions towards the work-life balance.
