A large number of businesses will be offering their workers the chance to work flexibly during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games so they can attend events during the two-week sporting celebration.
According to HR and employment research specialist Deloitte, some 44 per cent of companies will encourage their staff to attend Olympic events and 42 per cent plan to install TV screens in their office spaces so staff can watch events live.
Heather Hancock, London 2012 lead partner at Deloitte, said: “It is encouraging to see businesses thinking ahead about the potential impact the Games could have on their day-to-day operations.”
She added: “The priority will be to meet client needs but businesses need to factor in high numbers of staff wanting to attend or watch live events, a transportation system under increased pressure and potential disruption to supply chains.”
Ms Hancock concluded that businesses will need to make sure their office spaces are functional in the wake of unprecedented holiday requests.
Tickets for the Olympics and Paralymic Games went on sale today (March 15th).
