A new generation of green-conscious workers are helping to promote a flexible working agenda that includes mobile working, according to the Telework Association.
Too many young people, the “arduous experience” of commuting everyday is becoming a redundant way of life.
This generation is saying that the old habits that worked in the past don’t necessarily work today.
Peter Thomson, director of research at the organisation, said that this attitude, coupled with a disposition towards living greener lifestyles, was challenging the orthodoxy of working patterns.
Mr Thomson added: “They are quite rightly saying ‘Hang on – you, my parents’ generation, have polluted the planet. I’d like to do something about it, and let’s start with all this stupid travel that we’re doing.'”
A recent CBI/Harvey Nash Employment Trends survey recently found that 96 per cent of employers offer at least one form of flexible working.
