In an interview with the Daily Mail, the Duke of Cambridge has admitted that the Duchess, Prince Harry and himself do in fact hot desk due to the fact they only have two desks in the office they share.

The trio work out of a first-floor study in a small terraced house, which was initially accommodation for the Lord Chamberlain, with nine other staff.

A member of the royal household told the Daily Mail: “It’s not a problem as they’re hardly ever all there at the same time.”

Hot desking is a term used in modern offices when one desk is shared by several people at different times, usually to save money or as seems to be the case with the royals, to save space.

The interview gives the impression that the royal couple enjoy having a fairly normal office, complete with generic coffee machine, from which to run their grand affairs.
