Businesses that operate a flexible mobile working structure should warn their employees to take security of their technology devices seriously, according to Norton.
This year marks a major campaign to boost education and awareness of the threat of cyber attacks to mobile devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops.
Con Mallon, director of regional product marketing at the online protection brand, explained that although mobile attacks were “still relatively small in the absolute numbers”, the number would rise with the increased use of these devices in businesses.
He said: “This is one of the big education elements that I think you’re really going to start to see go out during the course of this year, really just trying to get the public more involved, more attuned, more knowledgeable about the requirement to basically start to take security seriously on their smartphones and on tablets.”
New market forecasts from Juniper Research, the hi-tech communications research and analytical services provider, indicated that currently less than one in 20 smartphones and tablets have third party security software installed on them.
