Staying connected is what modern business is all about, which is probably why growth in business social media use has been so pronounced.
Small and medium-sized enterprises – whether they operate a virtual office environment or not – are turning to social media for a huge number of reasons.
According to a new report by Office Cavalry, 71 per cent of firms are planning on ramping up their social media presence in the coming year, while a further 25 per cent claim that rolling out widespread social media integration across their company is a top priority.
Office Cavalry surveyed 1,000 UK businesses and found that the UK will soon be catching up with the US in terms of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn use in the office.
The firm’s founder Andy Turner said: “Social media and online reputation management is changing the way organisations do business; a more agile, cost effective approach that is scalable and responsive to the ever changing social media landscape is required.”
Recently, CIO.co.uk contributor Maryfran Johnson claimed that smartphones were partly responsible for the meteoric rise in popularity of social networking.
