Business experts have advised that companies need to become more transparent in terms of aim and processes in order to make their workforce feel more engaged.

Ashley Ward, director of European Leaders, suggested that businesses in serviced offices should make sure that employees know why they are being asked to do something, rather than just being told to do it.

He added: “Generally speaking, if you start at a point where some people would say ‘What is the why about this business? Why is it on the planet?’ and there can be lots of reasons that are very valid. That’s a healthy situation for employee engagement.”

Recent research by the organisation showed that almost two-thirds of workers (64 per cent) could and would work more effectively if they had better motivation.

Mr Ward suggested that this could go a long way to supporting that, as it gives all employees, even those at a junior level, the chance to feel as if they are part of a cause.
