UK’s Best Workplaces survey highlights positive office set-ups
Companies all across the country, whether they operate in solo or shared offices, are now well aware of just how important morale is among their workforce.
One such company who realise this more than most, it seems, is Baringa Partners.
This is because the company, a management consulting firm, has been given the accolade of having one of the UK’s Best Workplaces by The Great Place to Work Institute.
Baringa took top spot in the medium-sized business category with one of the firm’s senior partners saying that the people-centric nature of the business has not only helped it to grow as a business, but also that it makes for a good atmosphere.
Jim Hayward said that the company had always felt that “creating a great place to work is simply the right thing to do”.
Mohamed Mansour, managing partner at the company, echoed these thoughts.
He said: “There can be no doubt that the strong workplace values we implemented when the company was established have driven our success to date.”
This award is a real landmark for Baringa, with it being the sixth consecutive year that it has been in the Best Workplaces rankings, fresh off the back of being awarded Laureate status last year.
The company managed to clinch top spot for the first time in the 2010 Best Workplaces rankings, building on their second-place success stories in 2008 and 2009.
Tom O’Byrne, chief executive of Great Place to Work said that the standard of entry was so high this year that just managing to get a place on the final rankings is no mean feat.
“We assess and select the best workplaces by examining how management create trust in the workplace through various policies, practices and initiatives,” he explained.
“The real measure of whether an organisation is a great place to work is whether employees say it is.”
This can be seen through the institute’s practice of annually surveying employees and performing a cultural audit of around 5,500 organizations around the world.
This takes in the views of some ten million employees with companies then grouped and ranked by country on values such as credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
