Video conferencing is just one way in which organisers of the London 2012 Olympics are suggesting businesses in London cut down on their use of public transport during the Games.

With an influx of people into the capital and the expected extra pressure this will put on services, such as the Tube and London buses, meetings which could be conducted via video conferencing instead of in person are being encouraged.

Employers in London are being given the opportunity to attend workshops to help them change their patterns to help accommodate the games and be more flexible towards staff who may be caught up in public transport congestion.

As well as easing congestion, companies may find that meetings conducted through video conferencing cut down on travel costs, saving money, time and the environment at the same time.

Keith Warburton, editor of vcinsight, said: “It doesn’t take a genius to appreciate that if a business conducts meetings via video conferencing it will save on travel.”
