Does the month of your birth make you a better boss? Read on for your star sign’s leadership potential…
Are leaders born or made? Everyone can agree that certain personality traits are better for bosses, but can these be traced back to the mystical predictions of star signs?
We speculate on which star sign would make the best leader below…
ARIES (March 21 – April 19)
As the starting sign of the Zodiac, Aries is already off to a good start in the leadership contest. They thrive on logic and forging ahead, which makes them good, level-headed leaders. They are able to take a step back from the emotions of a task and get on with the practical needs. As a boss, Aries is sensible but perhaps not as emotionally connected as other star signs might be.
TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)
Taureans can be effective leaders, but sometimes their bull-headedness can be a problem when they’re in charge. They can be quite particular about their decisions, and dislike any challenge to their plan. Their stubbornness and micromanagement can be balanced by a fierce loyalty, however, and they can help propel you further if you prove that you’re worthy.
GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)
Geminis are engaging and convincing leaders, being able to multitask and change from one project to the next without breaking a sweat. They’re involved and caring about their business, which is perfect for a boss. However, the ever-changing Gemini can also be emotionally volatile, making them a bit nerve-wracking to work for if they’re under pressure.
CANCER (June 21 – July 22)
Cancerians are possibly the friendliest of star signs. They care about their colleagues, and try to foster a feel-good environment for their team. Though their understanding natures and friendly approach are welcome, sometimes they aren’t the best candidates for bosses as they prefer clear instructions and collaboration over leadership.
LEO (July 23 – August 22)
Leos are natural charismatic, and can be excellent leaders when they feel heard. They can be motivating, and are great in pitch scenarios. However, they can be a bit too much of a character to lead without friction. They can take criticism very personally, which can make constructive progress difficult.
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)
Purposeful and with lofty aims, Virgos are often good leaders because of their ability to think of the bigger picture. They are able to inspire others to their goals, which makes them effective managers and company leaders. However, they can sometimes become too bogged down in small worries and potential negative outcomes to be effective.
LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)
Libras are known for their balance and grace, making them fair bosses to work for. Their love for other people makes them warm company, and they strive to do what is right. However, their dislike of conflict means that sometimes they don’t work well in more challenging sectors, or shy away from taking the lead when discipline is needed.
SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)
Scorpios are likely not the best bosses, as they prefer to forge their own way and can be quite demanding of themselves (and other people). They would prefer to work alone and are very diligent, which makes them a good asset to have, but perhaps not in a leadership role.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)
Sagittarians can make excellent bosses because they encourage their followers to be self-sufficient and creative on their own terms. They like to create spaces for people to think for themselves and be independent, but this can also apply to themselves. Sagittarians’ distance can mean that they feel a bit removed from being part of a company, which is either a blessing or a curse, depending on the way you like to work.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)
Structured and focused on planning, Capricorns are diligent candidates for leading a team. They are reliable and steadfast, making them good in a crisis. However, Capricorns can often be more close-minded about change and innovation, and this can mean that they prefer to stay in their comfort zone, or to take a step back from a senior leadership role.
AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)
Aquarians make excellent innovators and dreamers, but their capacity for vision is perhaps not the best in a leadership role where they need to lead. They can motivate other people with their enthusiasm, but the nitty-gritty aspects of managing an office and a team is bit too much for them to handle.
PISCES (February 19 – March 20)
Pisces, as the most emotionally attuned of signs, can make for very empathetic bosses. Creative and fluid, they are adaptable to many scenarios. However, they tend to give way to more boisterous signs, meaning they can make better innovators than leaders.
