Business Environment have have exceeded £11,000 donations to charity in January for the first time.

Supporting Rays of Sunshine, Jeans for Genes and Dogs Trust, Business Environment also announced the donation of over 3,000 hours for its teams to support their own charities. The move will see all employees able to take 3 days off fully paid to work with a charity or good cause of their choice.

The news comes at a time when UK charities face cuts of over £1bn in funding during 2012 and many charities reporting falling donations. To help support local charities every Business Environment centre manager can nominate a charity of their choice every month to make a donation of up to £600 per year.

Commenting on the news David Saul, managing director, said “For businesses, I believe it’s important to be wary of the paradox of thriftily abandoning charitable initiatives and CSR efforts when times are tough. In fact, CSR should lie at the heart of your business model – not just viewed as an add-on”.

Being a socially responsible business is not just important for the communities your company operates in, but also for the development opportunities it offers your employees. We believe everyone should support charities important to them so we’ve increased our commitment and support for our teams this year”.

Business Environment have also announced they will be supporting Trees for Cities through its efforts to recycle toner cartridges and mobile phones in its London centres this year.
