InvestUK, Milton Keynes Council’s economic development team, is to conduct a survey of over 1,000 Milton Keynes businesses to better understand the required support and infrastructure provision supplied by the council to cultivate local economic success and business growth.

The research will be carried out by independent agency, BMG Research, which has previously worked with government departments such as the Electoral Commission and the Cabinet Offices as well as private enterprises Network Rail, BMW and Siemens. Most companies will be interviewed over the phone.

Commenting on the project Pam Gosal, Head of Corporate Economic Development & Inward Investment at Milton Keynes Council said: “We have helped hundreds of businesses relocate and flourish in the borough – but we want to raise the game.

“We have an excellent relationship with local businesses, but we want to get even closer to the ‘nitty gritty’ of how local businesses tick, what makes them successful, and what further support the council can provide to ensure business growth and economic success.

“The survey will also capture information on the skills gaps that exist to ensure that the right investment decisions are taken to maintain and develop an appropriately skilled workforce.”

Cllr Rob Middleton, the Cabinet Member responsible for resources, efficiency and growth, added: “Milton Keynes is a magnet for businesses of all shapes and sizes – it really is the place to be for them.

“It’s important that we hear from as many companies as possible to help us improve the service that we can offer them.”
