Clients and staff at BE Offices Barbican got to sample award-winning matcha green tea energy drinks today courtesy of PerfectTed, the revolutionary drinks brand that’s transforming the energy industry.

PerfectTed was founded by three passionate entrepreneurs: brothers Teddie and Levi Levenfiche and best friend Marisa Poster, who came together during their time at University of Pennsylvania, where demanding workloads made them heavily reliant on coffee and energy drinks. They soon realised the detrimental effects of such beverages, especially Marisa, who manages ADHD and anxiety.

Determined to find a better, healthier, and tastier alternative, the trio turned to matcha, a powdered green tea superfood known for its longer-lasting, anxiety-reducing energy and improved mental alertness. When they moved to the UK, they were surprised by the lack of quality matcha options in the market and the absence of functional energy drinks with great taste and health credentials.

With a mission to revolutionise the energy industry, the friends founded PerfectTed, Europe’s first matcha green tea-powered, all-natural, canned energy drink. The drinks boast three unique flavour combinations: Pear Ginger, Apple Raspberry (winner of the Great Taste Award), and Pineapple Yuzu. Powered by organic, ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from Uji, Japan, PerfectTed contains 80mg of caffeine, equivalent to a standard cup of coffee or a Red Bull, along with L-theanine for a more enduring and stable energy source.

Unlike traditional energy drinks, PerfectTed offers an array of benefits, including:

            • 100% natural ingredients: No additives, preservatives, or added sugar.
            • Slow-release energy: Caffeine from green tea lasts 4-6 hours, avoiding the dreaded crashes.
            • Improved focus: The combination of L-theanine and caffeine scientifically enhances focus.
            • Reduced anxiety: L-theanine stimulates the production of serotonin, dopamine, and alpha brain waves, promoting relaxation.
            • Antioxidant-rich: Matcha has one of the highest concentrations of antioxidants among plant-based foods.
            • Low calorie: Just 7kcals per 100ml.

Marisa and Teddie appeared on Dragon’s Den earlier this year and received positive reaction from all five dragons, accepting a combined £50k offer from Steven Bartlett and Peter Jones in return for 5% equity in their business.

The success of the drink combined with the backing of the Dragons has meant that PerfectTed can now be found in multiple retail outlets including Tesco, Waitrose, Holland & Barrett, M&S and Sainsbury’s sushi counters, Planet Organic and Wholefoods Market.

We are anticipating greatly improved energy levels and increased productivity in our Barbican building this afternoon!
