Business owners need to keep their staff engaged and motivated if they want to avoid them pulling sickies.
According to new research from Badenoch & Clark, business owners need to ensure that their office spaces have not become highly pressurised environments in the wake of the recent recession and ensuing economic downturn.
The firm’s sales director Dave Fleming said: “Over the past two years, economic uncertainty has put enormous pressure on UK workers. Now it is up to employers to foster an environment in which their employees feel their contributions are valued.”
He added that the economy is, at last, starting to turn around and business owners need to ensure that their staff receive plenty of recognition for the hard work they have put in during the tumultuous financial crisis.
His comments come after National Sickie Day – the first Monday in February – which is the day when staff are most likely to call in sick.
