Private sector recruitment looks like it could be on the up and, as a result, office spaces could be set to get a bit more positive.
The REC’s latest JobsOutlook survey could be extremely good news for small business owners struggling to keep office space morale high in the wake of the recent recession and drastic government spending cuts.
According to the REC, a whopping 94 per cent of employers said they are either bolstering worker numbers or keeping staffing levels the same in the short term.
Longer term, more than a third are intent on boosting the number of temporary staff they employ – an increase from just over a fifth a year ago.
Roger Tweedy, the REC’s director of research, said: “We are confident that in the long term, demand in the economy will lead to private sector businesses employing more people.”
There are concerns, however, that although the private sector is doing well, it will not be able to pick up the slack in the wake of huge public sector redundancies.
