The net is rife with stories about the dangers of romances in office or serviced offices – particularly those that come about under the mistletoe at the Christmas party.

But according to Andrew Kakabadse, professor of international management and development at the Cranfield School of Management, office romances can actually improve an employee’s work ethic.

His research runs counter to the common belief that office flings are a bad thing.

“We found that, for the period of that intimacy … work standards increased and the two parties were much happier with each other,” Mr Kakabadse said.

He went as far as saying that people should not interfere or chip in with words of advice when they find out about an office space romance.

“There have been intimate relationships all around you in for workplace for years and nothing has happened so why do you want to make this an issue when it is actually a part of life,” he concluded.
