The benefits of flexible and mobile working practices are clear and more businesses are introducing them than ever before.
According to the Telework Association, employers have caught a glimpse of the “bigger picture” and are now happy for their staff to keep their own time and work remotely.
Shirley Borrett, development director of the association, said that flexible working has come “quite a way” since the days of hot desking and recent debates about the importance of flexible working had missed out some of the key bonuses associated with the practice.
“What got missed in that was the much bigger picture in terms of the benefits to organisations – not just the improved productivity, but desk sharing, hot desking and all those sorts of things that mean you save on real estate,” Ms Borrett claimed.
She added: “There are other benefits, like loyalty, lower turnover of staff, and all of those sorts of things, that got missed [as well].”
Recent research from Swinton Insurance claimed that working from home was a consideration for one in five UK employees.
