UK mobile workers are more than happy to use mobile devices and out-of-office internet connections to access work documents while on the move.

The problem is that more than half of Europeans surveyed by NCP Engineering said they had used insecure connections to do their work (the figure was actually 47 per cent in the UK).

Many of those surveyed were completely unaware of the security implications of using home broadband or mobile devices to download confidential company information.

And security measures, according to NCP Engineering, should be introduced into the office space as well.

Simon Ford, the firm’s director, told SC Magazine: “Organisations need to be equipping their employees with a holistic virtual private network solution and an authentication tool to ensure secure operations when dealing with company and personal information both in and out of the office.”

Recently, HR Magazine claimed that the traditional office space is changing dramatically thanks to the widespread uptake of computer-driven mobile working practices.
