Business owners want to boost diversity in the office space as they strive to become more inclusive.

That’s the opinion of Inclusive Employers director Rachel Krys.

The organisation aims to engage business owners with the issue of workplace diversity and Ms Krys, who was formerly campaigns director at the Employers’ Forum on Age, claims that many organisations have already taken a fresh approach to the issue – thanks to structural changes following the recent recession and economic downturn.

She claimed that employers no longer have a narrow view of office space diversity.

Speaking to People Management she said: “[Employers] are thinking in terms of every characteristic that an individual person has and how they can attract the best talent and engage them.

“They’re thinking about how they will become an employer of choice in a very competitive talent market.”

Recently, Women in Technology’s Maggie Berry said introducing flexible working practices was a great way of achieving office space diversity.
