Employers in serviced offices who want to instil enthusiasm into their employees should put some pomegranate juice in the fridge, according to new research.

A study which was funded by the Pomegreat juice company showed that the drink can lower workers’ heart rates and make them feel more enthusiastic about their job.

Many also reported that they felt more inspired, proud and active after drinking the juice throughout the day.

Lead researcher Dr Emad Al-Dujaili, of Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, said: “On the basis of these findings there is a justified argument for busy workers to drink pomegranate juice to help alleviate chronic stress and maintain good health.”

Unison said that stress accounts for 30 per cent of all absences in the workplace.

Pomegranates are said to be one of the ‘superfoods’, because of their high nutritional value.

They are high in fibre, good for the heart and full of potassium.
