Over half of employees would take advice from their colleagues at work, according to a new survey.
According to the Work:Life UK report, which was carried out by ICM on behalf of the Guardian, 53 per cent of respondents would happily take advice on money matters from work colleagues, family members and friends.
The report also revealed that 43 per cent would happily offer their own advice if asked.
Speaking to the national newspaper, Kevin Mountford, head of banking at the comparison website moneysupermarket.com, said: “Many consumers are turning to local networks, such as the workplace, for help.
“There is definitely a requirement for information and guidance.”
With further news that the world stock markets are selling shares at a rate that echoes the patterns of economic behaviour that followed the 2008 financial crisis, people are looking at even greater ways of protecting their assets and cutting down costs.
The survey showed that respondents sought advice from others on pressing financial issues that included health insurance (29 per cent), income protection (19 per cent) and pensions (18 per cent).
