People who work from London to Bristol and Milton Keynes to Reading should be glad of their jobs as unemployment figures reached 2.51 million in the last quarter to July.
The increase of 80,000 unemployed was reported by the Office for National Statistics and the number of people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance rose by 20,300 in August.
Despite this the temporary jobs market is doing better, but this may be set to change as Agency Worker Regulations are set to come into force, which could potentially threaten half a million temporary employment contracts.
A report by Allen and Overy has found that 33 per cent of medium to large businesses may be planning to terminate agency worker contracts in order to save money before the
12-week qualifying period starts on October 1st.
