Milton Keynes employer, Business Environment, is encouraging employees and clients to get on their bikes and ride to work as part of a national Cycle to Work scheme.
The serviced office operator, located on Avebury Boulevard, has installed a new cycle rack in its car park to accommodate 15 bikes. The rack is part-funded by Milton Keynes council, Allianz Insurance plc – also located in the building – and Business Environment.
John Edwards, centre manager of Business Environment Milton Keynes, said: “Along with helping to maintain a healthy team of staff, cycling to work reduces CO2 emissions and saves money – the average cyclist saves £600 every year in car running costs – so the benefits are multi-fold.”
Richard Foulerton, CSR Manager at Allianz added: “We are committed to encouraging physical activity amongst our staff so we were delighted to be able to support this initiative. Cycling to work is a great way for people to get fit and stay active whilst helping to save money, reduce congestion and minimise your impact on the environment.”
With eight employees and clients already regularly cycling to work and at least another 11 likely to get on their bikes before Christmas, Business Environment expects the new rack to really boost the uptake in cycling at the company.
Business Environment regularly takes part in initiatives to help encourage cycling. This year as part of National Bike Week it set up a series of courses for employees with a range of cycling abilities, from beginners to experienced riders who needed to refresh their road skills.
