Business owners can keep their workers more engaged and motivated by encouraging them to take part in a cycle to work programme.

As well as the health benefits of cycling to work, employees will find their concentration in the office space will improve and their overall morale will be boosted.

New research from the Cycle to Work Alliance (CWA) shows that nine out of ten employees think their bosses should offer a cycle to work scheme.

The organisation, which surveyed more than 44,500 people, also noted that 98 per cent of workers already taking part in a cycling initiative would recommend it to their friends and colleagues.

Speaking to HR Magazine, CWA representative Mark Smith said: “Employers are seeing the benefits of a healthier and more engaged workforce – vital as the country moves out of recession.”

According to the CWA, inactivity costs British taxpayers around £8.2 billion a year.
