The Bristol Post’s Real Rates Reform campaign is asking business leaders in the city to their pledge support and back its campaign for a serious overhaul of the tax system which is currently hindering growth and placing an unfair burden on small and medium sized enterprises.
The campaign will urge all the major political parties to commit to a significant review of business rates as part of their manifestos in the run up to the general election next year.
The South West England publication is looking for commitment on three particular issues:
- A simplified and comprehensible system
- A break of the property-based deterrent to growth and expansion
- Greater control locally over how the income from rates or their replacement are spent.
