Social networking site, Facebook, is offering £32 in free advertising to as many as 200,000 companies in an attempt to showcase the potential it has to help businesses grow.
Setting up a website can be time consuming and expensive for new SMEs and require skills they do not necessarily have, so using Facebook can be seen as a cheaper and easier alternative.
For some people the prospect still seems daunting but by offering this opportunity to see the benefits of a web presence, Facebook are hoping to tempt more new businesses into the fold.
Recently big companies, such as British Airways and Burberry have used Facebook to help launch their new advertising campaigns, highlighting what an important place social media sites now have in the marketing world.
If the big companies are cashing in on the trend then this opportunity could be a great boost for SMEs.
