30,000 babies are born every year in the UK with a genetic disorder. The health problems they face mean that genetic disorders are the biggest killer of children under the age of 14. The charity Jeans for Genes have launched their focus day this year on October 7th and are looking for people and businesses to support them by wearing jeans and donating to help the charity continue its work supporting the effected children.
Business Environment is now in their 4th year supporting the charity. Every one of the 18 serviced office business centre teams will be taking part to raise money.
Nick Gandy, Director of Business Centres commented, “We support Jeans for Genes Day every year across our business. Our business centres teams and our support teams come to work wearing their favourite jeans and really get behind this very important cause that raises money and awareness of genetic disorders across the UK. We try and have as much fun as possible and this year we will be raising money during our regular Friday doughnut coffee breaks“.
Genetic disorders are caused by an alteration in DNA. This may mean that either a gene or several genes are missing, repeated or in the wrong order. Altered genes can affect a child’s senses, movement, ability to learn or appearance.
