Hosting parties in the office space can be a great way to boost employee morale – particularly during tough economic times.
According to Vicky Oliver, author of 301 Smart Answers to Tough Business Etiquette Questions, parties can bring previously unconnected staff members together and create a strong sense of camaraderie.
She claimed that office parties a great way for managers to show that they care about their staff.
Mrs Oliver said that with staff spending most of their waking hours with co-workers, creating meaningful relationships in the workplace will be a huge benefit for both business owners and their staff.
And focusing on staff morale is something few employers can afford to ignore at the moment.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s Jill Miller recently told HR magazine that failing to foster employee loyalty with suitable rewards – like staff parties – “could be fatal”.
